Description: These old antique prints originate from: "Histoire Naturelle Générale et Particuliere....", by de Buffon & Dauberton. Nouvelle Edition, Amsterdam J.H. Schneider, 1766. You will find more items from this work in our ebay store and on our website (use about me link). Artists and Engravers: Author: Georges-Louis Le Clerc, Comte de Buffon (1707-1788). French naturalist, mathematician, biologist, cosmologist and author. Buffon's views influenced the next two generations of naturalists, including Jean-Baptiste Lamarck and Charles Darwin. The engravers in this work are B. de Bakker, C. Brouwer, O. de Vries, C.F. Fritzsch (1719-c.1772), Reinier Vinkeles (1741-1816), H. Vinkeles, Mittelj, G.S. and Fringham after Jacques de Seve (active 1744-1788), Buvee and others. These plates are engraved by Fritzsch after Jacques de Seve.
